Various forms of AI have been long since integrated into every facet of the insurance industry; claims, underwriting, distribution and pricing have all been impacted positively by digitization and will continue to be infused with such innovation. We’ll discuss where the industry is today and what’s in store for tomorrow.  

Nancy Hom: Chief of Staff to Chief Auditor, Head of Planning & Data Analytics (MetLife)

Nancy Hom has over 17 years of experience in the Financial Services industry, providing assurance, risk advisory, and analytics solutions to businesses. She is currently MetLife’s Global Internal Audit’s Chief of Staff, leading the modernization and innovation strategy to provide efficient and effective review of risks across the organization.  

Prior to MetLife, she spent many years at EY, a multinational professional services company delivering external financial statement reporting reviews and attestation services for Fortune 500 companies.  Earlier in her career, she was a Biometrics consultant at a start-up company that delivered leading research and biometric technology services (e.g. iris, finger, hand, face, and voice technologies) to both public and private sectors.

Nancy holds a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems and Marketing from Binghamton University. She is a Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA) and an active member of the Ascend Executive Network (AEN), a non-profit business professionals organization focused on inspiring and preparing Pan-Asian leaders for executive leadership and board positions.  

John Henry: Co-Founder & CEO (Loop)

John Henry is a Dominican-American entrepreneur and investor. Henry has been named to the Forbes 30 Under 30, Inc 30 Under 30, Adweek Creative 100, The Root 100, and Ebony Power 100 lists.

Born and raised in New York CIty, John’s path was a little different. He dropped out at of college at 18, where he picked up a job as a doorman. He went on to start and sell his first business by 21. Henry later cofounded the Venture Capital firm Harlem Capital, raising $40.3mm and making 17 investments in Women and Minority entrepreneurs before stepping down in 2020.

Henry is also passionate about Media. Henry hosted the TV show ‘Hustle’ on VICELAND, Executive Produced by Alicia Keys and Marcus Samuelsson; and produced and hosted branded podcasts for brands like The Washington Post, Gimlet Media, WeWork, eBay, and Samsung.

Today Henry is the Cofounder and Co-CEO of Loop Insurance, an insurance technology company that leverages AI and data to create more fairly priced auto insurance products for all.

Alan Anders: Managing Director of Data Strategy (Guy Carpenter)

Alan Anders is the head of data strategy for the reinsurance brokerage arm Guy Carpenter within the world's leading professional services firm Marsh McLennan. This includes the construction of their new global reinsurance data lake platform and data science & digital product innovation practice across 3k+ colleagues and $2B in revenue.

Alan has been primarily in the tech startup scene around NYC for the last 8 years before migrating to transform financial service enterprises and entering the insurance industry. His expertise span cloud technologies, distributed computing, optimization algorithms, data architectures and machine learning. He previously held roles as CTO, director of data science and lead technologist in the ad-tech industry, technology and startup companies in NYC.

Moderated by Shaw Li, A Product Management Leader

Shaw Li has 10+ years of product management experience earned working at pre-seed, venture funded, and Fortune 500 companies. He recently led product at Haven Life, an insurtech startup in NYC, having previously worked at Visa and Accenture. He earned his BA from U.C. Berkeley and MBA from Cornell.
