From social networks to sharing economy platforms, Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays an ever-expanding role in sociotechnical systems. In this talk, Xiao will talk about her previous research on how we use computational methods to understand human-to-human interactions online (e.g., Facebook, Airbnb). Then she will switch gears to talk about her current work on Voice Assistants, in particular on the challenges in designing AI to support voice exploration.
Xiao Ma is a software engineer at Google Geo Search team. Previously, she obtained a PhD in Information Science at Cornell Tech focusing on the computational understanding of interpersonal trust. She has published and won awards at top Human-Computer Interaction conferences such as CHI, CSCW, and WWW.
